From the recording sessions organized by pianist/producer Raymond Jones for the film Soul Men featuring Samuel L. Jackson and (the late) Bernie Mac an idea was born.
Ministers of Soul was conceived as a side project for its members. It will perform the repertoire of the various groups we have been associated with as well as new works in the idioms of funk, soul, funk-jazz, etc.
The goal of this association would be to perform around the world in various formations, adding musicians as is appropriate for venue and budget. It is envisioned that the band will perform in clubs and on the festival concert circuit.
